Kids Classes: Ages 5-12 years
October 26th- December 14th Saturdays from 11:30am – 12:30pm
The first class will include a Halloween party, so kids can come in their favorite costumes.
Coaches Courtney, Dana, and Vince will be running the Kids classes this session.
Our goal is to bring health and fitness to our area’s youth through the CrossFit method designed specifically for the development needs of children and teens. These SMCF classes are based on a strength and conditioning program tailored for kids and teenagers to help them increase in lean muscle mass, build stronger bones, increase strength, speed and agility at a level appropriate for the growing body.
Our SMCF program builds self-confidence by helping them develop a lifelong love of health, fitness, and community.

SMCF is excited to host their 1st Annual RALLY in the VALLEY, a fun, friendly, competitive throwdown to determine the top performing male and female athletes of the day.
Day 1 October 19th, 2013 will consist of events for the Male and Female RX Division.
Day 2 October 20th 2013 will consist of events for the Male and Female Scaled Division as well as the Male and Female Masters Division (40+ age group).
Both days will be a challenge of a series of physical tests to determine which athletes are able to prove their strength, endurance, and stamina earns them a spot on the podium. Each day will consist of at least 4 events, including a final workout for the top athletes in each Division. **Please check our facebook page, website, and event page for movement standards and requirements for each Division.**

South Mountain CrossFit will be hosting an Olympic Lifting and Gymnastics Seminar with Olympic athletes Chad Vaughn and David Durante on Saturday August 24th and Sunday August 25th.
This seminar is only accepting 20 participants and we will be making the link live to the public on Wednesday July 31st. After that date we cannot guarantee that you will be able to get a spot for the seminar. The price for SMCF members is $450.00. Trust us if you want to take your Olympic lifting and Gymnastics skills to the next level you will want to attend this seminar at SMCF.

Please join South Mountain CrossFit in the First Annual “Shelly” WOD. We will be raising money for the Navy SEAL Foundation in honor of Chief Special Warfare Operator (SEAL) Eric “Shelly” Shellenberger, who died May 7, 2009 in a diving-related incident in the waters off Bremerton, Washington while conducting dive training with members of his team. Shelly was a native of Montgomery and Bucks counties.

Eric F. “Shelly” Shellenberger enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1991 and served proudly as a Marine until 1999. In 2000, he enlisted in the Navy, and in 2001 graduated from BUDS Class 232.
A highly decorated operator, his awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with combat distinguishing device (2), the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon (4), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (2), and Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal. He was SDVT-1and Naval Special Warfare Group Three’s Sailor of the Year in 2007.
Outside of duties that involve going into the water, Eric completed seven combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, including deployments as an Assault Team Leader in Ramadi during the Sunni Awakening in 2006-2007, and a combat deployment as a Force Reconnaissance Marine to Somalia before transferring to the Navy. Shellenberger was also part of a team of SEALs tasked with the location and elimination of what was termed as “high value targets and terrorist leaders.”
At the time of his death, Chief Special Warfare Operator Eric Shellenberger was based in Pear City, Hawaii, assigned to SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team One. This is the only team in the military that operates a mini-submarine that is used by the Navy for covert missions into enemy waters, such as intelligence operations and planting explosives on enemy ships. As part of this team, Shellenberger and his unit performed sensitive missions, the content of which remain classified. Eric Shellenberger leaves behind his fiancée, two brothers, his father, mother and stepfather. Admiral Edward Winters III, Commander of the Naval Special Warfare Command was quoted in the Morning Call, saying that Shellenberger’s loss was “heart-wrenching.”

Hope for Kenya workout being held at SMCF. We will be taking cash and check donations and will be sending all proceeds to our good friends at CrossFit APEX. They have been raising money furiously to build a school in Kenya. So far they have raised close to $5, 000 towards there goal of $14,000. Anything will help to bring this noble cause to light.

For many CrossFitters, getting that first kipping pull-up is a momentous occasion, and one that is never forgotten.Come to our pull-up seminar on Sunday, June 16th at 12pm. We will break down the mechanics of the kipping, butterfly, and chest to bar pull-ups, work on skill and strength progressions for beginner and advanced athletes, and discuss goal setting around this staple CrossFit movement. The seminar is free for all current SMCF members. Drop-in fee of $15 applies for all non-members.
