Attention athletes:

A huge part of CrossFit is offering support to those in need.  Jennifer Sommers is a mother, wife, and friend who is currently fighting for her life.  This Saturday SMCF will be hosting a free WOD during the 9am and 10am group classes.  We lieu of drop-in fees or punches on your punch cards, we will be accepting donations for the Sommers family.  We hope you all will be able to attend the WOD in honor of Jen’s daily battles and make some type of donation, no matter how small, in order to help us honor Jen’s fight and to provide her family with some extra love and support through an immensely challenging struggle.

Spread the word, as this event is open to any CrossFitters!  Please see the letter from SMCF athlete Joanne Mulligan below:

  Dear SMCFers,

A very close friend of mine from high school, Jennifer Sommers was just recently diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, which is incurable. She is 37 years old with a 3 year old son and an 18 year old daughter who just started nursing school. She undergoes chemotherapy that lasts 46 hours on weekends at Fox Chase. High school friends are holding fundraiser benefits for her to help her out with the cost of chemo and testing that she must undergo. I wanted to help out the only way I know how, with the help of our amazing Crossfit community. This of course means coming together to shed blood, sweat, and tears in a grueling WOD to show our support for a really great cause! Just remember during the WOD, no matter how painful it is, there are people out there fighting cancer and suffering much worse!

Thank you in advance for your help and support!

Sincerely,

Joanne Mulligan
