What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is an evidence-based fitness program that includes workout prescriptions of “constantly varied, functional movements performed at high intensity.”  We define fitness as increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains.   Our specialty is not specializing.  We believe that safety, efficiency, and efficacy are the 3 most important aspects of any fitness program, and should be measured, observed, and retested consistently over time.  The CrossFit program is scalable for all levels of fitness, regardless of ability or experience.

CrossFit begins with a belief in fitness and results in life-changing events.

Who Can Do CrossFit?

Everyone.  Yes, everyone.  At first glance, the sport of CrossFit may seem intimidating.  However, the appeal of this strength and conditioning program is that all movements are scalable to meet the needs of every individual.  Intensity becomes relevant on the gym floor, and no matter what level of scaling is used, each participant will experience an intense workout, unique to their needs.  Many are skeptical of their abilities when they begin, but our staff members are here to educate, motivate, and provide high quality training to ensure that all SMCF’s members are performing safely and effectively in order to meet their fitness goals.

What Can You Expect?

Expect to feel a little nervous.  Any CrossFit athlete will vouch to that.  In the CrossFit community, we use the phrase “Fear your workout.”  Expect to push yourself out of your comfort zone, whether it is a lot or a little.  Expect to be embraced by a group of people who value their health, their bodies, and each other.  Expect to sweat, quite possibly more than you ever have.

Expect to be sore within the first 2-4 weeks after you join.  During this time, it will be very important to drink LOTS of water, eat healthy, and to try and get as much sleep as possible to let your body repair itself.  Gradually, you will feel less sore, have more energy, and feel more prepared for each workout. 

Where Is SMCF Located?

We are conveniently located just off of the Lehigh Street exit off Interstate 78 in Allentown Pa.  Please see our location page for directions.  Parking is located in the front of the building.

Why Do People CrossFit?

You could ask 100 people this question, and you will probably get 100 different answers.  SMCF may be what you’re looking for if you
